Yachad - Congregational Hebrew School:

Temple Beth Sholom of Stratford and Congregation Sinai of Milford have joined together to create a community religious school. The new school, known as Yachad (which means ‘together’ in Hebrew), will build on the tradition of academic excellence both synagogues have been noted for.  The new program will provide students from both communities a larger student body, more teachers, and a variety of exciting educational and social experiences.

In class, students gain a reading knowledge of Hebrew, develop familiarity with Israel, explore history and ethics, learn rituals for home and synagogue, and build strong Jewish identities. Class size is small.

If you are interested in enrolling your child in Yachad please contact Rabbi Yvonne Youngberg through the TBS office.

    Multi-Generational Learning:

    Torah Reading
Have you always wanted to read Torah but didn’t know how?  Now is your chance to learn the trope used to chant the Torah every week.  We will learn the trope together and each participant will focus on an aliyah to be read at a service in late spring or summer.

Class will be held every Thursday night at 7 PM beginning on 7 December.

If you are interested in participating please email Rabbi Youngberg at tbsrabbi@bethsholomstratford.org or 378-6175.

    Hebrew Reading Class
Now that you know the aleph-bet, why not try Adon Olam?  If you completed the Hebrew Reading Crash Course or have a background in basic Hebrew reading, we will be continuing the Hebrew program in January with the Hebrew Reading Crash Course Level II.  The class will cover some of the basic prayers from the Shabbat service, expanding the vocabulary learned in the first class and increasing reading fluency.

Class will be held on Thursday evenings beginning on 4 January (time to be determined).

If you are interested in attending this class please contact Rabbi Youngberg at tbsrabbi@bethsholomstratford.org or 378-6175 by December 6th so we can order the required materials.

    Shabbat AM Learners' Service
Participate in Shabbat services in a special way. Each month, usually the fourth Shabbat, our multi-generational Learners’ no-Hebrew-necessary service is explained through commentary and open discussion.

At last, you can learn the rituals and melodies in a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Get your questions answered. Be captivated by 5000 years of fascinating insights and reflections on life, living and transforming the world around us. And afterwards, join us for Kiddush—where we eat, drink and laugh together.

    Check our calendar for dates!
